Flood victims helped by EWS Network

A daily high speed train operated by rail freight supplier EWS Network is to run from Scotland to Gloucestershire with mineral water from Tesco to be distributed to people affected by the recent flooding.

The train, with wagons provided by Freight Europe, containing thousands of bottles of mineral water, will be loaded each night in central Scotland for delivery to Gloucestershire the following day. These emergency supply train services are expected to operate over several days.

Lucy Smith, EWS Business Solutions Manager, said: “EWS Network will do what it can to help families affected by the recent flooding. This train has been resourced at very short notice and will enable large volumes of bottled water supplied by Tesco to be transported in one controlled movement as part of the emergency distribution arrangements.”
