SCOTLAND

The Scottish Executive's recently published National Transport Strategy and its Action Plan for Freight, calls for creation of a sustainable freight transport system.

The Action Plan for Freight states that "the efficient and competitive movement of goods through the entire supply chain is therefore a key element in meeting consumer demand, and supporting and enabling economic growth. At the same time, the impact of the movement of freight on congestion and the environment cannot be ignored."

EWS Network has responded to this strategy with its new approach to enable more Intermodal containers to be transported by rail. With our new services, initiatives and product innovation we are positioned to grow the volume of Intermodal rail freight to, from and within Scotland. These services support Scotland's position in the UK, and its trading relationship with the rest of Europe, by providing a competitive and sustainable transport system.

There are significant Intermodal traffic opportunities for Scotland and EWS Network has the right mix of services and initiatives to transfer Scottish traffic from road to rail, whether internally, cross border, internationally or to mainland Europe.

We have a Business Manager in Scotland whose job it is to work with our customers to provide new, innovative services to grow Intermodal rail freight volumes in Scotland. He's called Paul and can be contacted on the link below.
